Utah Officers Get AMBER Alert Training

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - More than 250 Utah police officers are receiving training in tracking missing and abducted children.

Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff says it's the largest training event ever held in the nation for the AMBER Alert initiative.

The event is taking place until Friday at the Salt Lake Community College in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy.

Fox Valley Technical College of Appleton, Wisc., is running the seminars for the U.S. Department of Justice.

Among topics are evidence collection, profiling suspects, conducting interviews and interrogations and cracking cold cases.

Another, advanced course will be offered for Utah officers in mid-October.
