Utah, Baja California A.G.s agree to fight cross-border crime
Utah's attorney general has joined other Western states in signing an agreement with Baja California's top prosecutor to prevent cross-border crime such as human trafficking.
The Mexican province and Utah have agreed to create joint task forces to prevent Internet crimes against children and human trafficking, to train investigators and prosecutors, to help establish an internal affairs unit, and to share information on criminals who may have fled to Mexico or the United States. The agreement was signed at the Conference of Western Attorneys General held this week in Sun Valley, Idaho.
"Utah and Baja both want our citizens to be safe and our children to be protected on both sides of the border," Shurtleff said in a written statement. "This agreement should be a warning to criminals that the arm of justice is long and will not stop at the borderline."
