New strike force making cases quickly

StandardNet
Published: Thursday, October 22, 2009.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah attorney general's office says a strike force formed to target major crimes committed by illegal immigrants has seized thousands of fake identification cards in four months of operation.

The SECURE Strike Force has also seized all kinds of contraband, including guns, drugs and, in one case, dental equipment.

Attorney General Mark Shurtleff says the strike force is making cases at an impressive rate.

Several employees in the attorney general's office work with the Utah Department of Public Safety, federal agencies and local law enforcement.

U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman says reducing violent crime in neighborhoods is a priority.
